Gordon and Faith Greiner Nature Preserve is a 74 acre mosaic of sand prairie, stepped fen, wet mesic woods and planted prairie in Hobart, IN. The site has seen a large amount of restoration by staff, volunteers and students in the Mighty Acorns program at adjacent Ridgeview Elementary School. On this workday we will be tackling invasive species in a portion of the property not covered by past restoration activities. We will be using chainsaws, brushcutters and loppers to remove woody invasive species. Lunch will be provided, please RSVP volunteer@heinzetrust.org if you wish to attend, so we can plan accordingly.
Directions to Site: From I-94, take I-65 south to Ridge Road / E.37th Ave. Drive east on Ridge Road to Liverpool Road. Take Liverpool Road south about 3/4 mile to a gravel driveway on the right (west) side of the road. (Look for the radio towers.) If you cross the tracks you've gone too far. The trail leads from the driveway north through the preserve.
